Indonesia’s economic growth, now at 80 years of independence, has remained stagnant. Data shows that since the era of Indonesia’s second president, Soeharto, the economy has grown at only around 5 percent.
This was conveyed by senior economist from the Bright Institute, Professor Awalil Rizky, during the virtual Forum Insan Cita event themed “The Condition, Achievements, and Socio-Economic Challenges of Indonesia After 80 Years of Independence” held in Jakarta on Monday evening, August 18, 2025.
